Newsletter information

When you subscribe to The Brief, we collect your email address and your consent to receive news and promotional deal emails. Our subscription service uses Notifuse to manage contacts, lists, confirmations and unsubscribes. The configured email delivery service processes messages to send them to your inbox.

We use this information to administer your subscription and deliver the emails you requested. Confirmation may be required before a subscription becomes active. Newsletter subscriptions are for adults aged 18 or over.

Site operation and security

The site and its hosting services may process technical request information, including IP addresses, browser details and request timestamps, for delivery, abuse prevention and diagnostics. Administration uses an authentication cookie. Public browsing does not require an account.

Subscription forms send information to our server over HTTPS. We do not place email service credentials in your browser.

Cookies and your preferences

Essential cookies keep the publication secure and remember your choices. cookies_accepted records that you have made a cookie choice, and ccd_cookie_preferences stores the version and optional preferences you selected. Both are saved for up to 180 days on this website only. The ccd_session cookie is used for administrator sign-in and expires after 12 hours.

No analytics services or advertising trackers are currently installed. Accepting optional categories saves your preference; it does not load trackers. Essential cookies remain available when you reject optional categories.

You can reopen preferences from the footer, change your choices, or remove cookies in your browser. Clearing the saved choices shows the notice again.

Saved channels and offer comparisons

When you save a channel or add an offer to comparison, this browser stores the selected public record IDs in local storage. ccd_channel_watchlist_v1 holds your saved channel list and ccd_deal_shortlist_v1 holds up to three offers. These preferences support the feature you requested; they are not used for analytics or advertising.

You can remove a saved channel using its save button, clear your offer comparison from the deals desk, or remove all saved choices through your browser settings. These lists remain on this browser and are not linked to a newsletter address or a public account.

Kick streaming player

Channel pages link to Kick. An embedded Kick player loads only after you select “Load Kick player” on that page. Before loading it, the page explains that the player connects to Kick and may use its cookies, sharing your IP address and browser information with Kick.

This choice loads the player for the current page. It does not enable analytics or marketing services on this publication. Use “Close player” to remove the embedded player, or watch directly on Kick instead. Kick controls the player and handles its information under its own privacy policy.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. This stops further marketing emails to that subscription. Essential subscription confirmation or security messages may still be necessary to complete a request you initiate.

If a subscription confirmation email arrives without you requesting it, do not confirm it. An unconfirmed address should not be treated as a subscribed reader.
